Compact Disc-45 Minutes Baxter, America's
best-selling cowboy poet, is also a songwriter. Numerous western artists,
including Ed Bruce, Red Steagall, Ian Tyson, Sons of the San Joaquin, and others
equally talented, have recorded his songs. Jim Schafer, who first cut
one of Baxter's songs in 1982, has produced an entire CD (13 songs) of Baxter's
tunes. The two have been friends since college, and nobody knows Baxter's music
better than Jim. The songs are done in Jim's straightforward cowboy fashion with
some flashy pickin' lighting the dark corners. Butch Hause, the Rocky Mountains'
premier sideman and friend of Baxter and Jim, fills in the potholes. This CD is
a first for everybody, and you're gonna be pleasantly surprised.
